A Rewarding But Dangerous Field
One does not have to look very hard to find videos labelled "police brutality" or "excessive force from law enforcement." Also the embarrassing videos that show poorly trained LEO/Security staff getting thrown around as they fumble attempting to get control over an individual.
The reality is violence is an inevitable part of the LEO/Security work field and you need to know how to address it. The training you receive from your employer is not enough, and it's a big reason why people are losing faith in LEO/Security. You need to know how to control a person in a way that ensures your safety, as well as themselves.
Always assume you're on camera when using force. You need techniques that protect you, but also make you look professional to your employer, media, or legal system.
Corrections/Sheriffs
Working in tight spaces with limited weapons to protect yourself. Being able to close the distance and control a client with grappling is critical.
Security/Protection
Poor lighting conditions and usually little to no reactionary gap in a packed venue. You need to know how to work within a grappling range.
Police
Deal with every possible situation under the sun. Apprehending a suspect is dangerous and being confident in your skills to control someone is critical.

No standing wrist locks. No arm bar take downs that are impossible to do to a larger person. Just fundamental grappling techniques that are high percentage, and low risk so you can have confidence when you have to use force.
The techniques you learned at depot/training don't work well for everyone. Learn techniques that allow you to achieve mechanical advantages and work efficiently so you can overcome a individual who is bigger and stronger than you.
